Infrared drying and infrared curing

WHAT IS INFRARED DRYING & INFRARED CURING?

Many coatings, paints and varnishes will dry and or cure rapidly when radiated with the infrared light. Infrared light is emitted from a lamp, heating element, infrared emitter, the infrared light is then absorbed by the coating or paint and heat within the coating is generated. It is important to know, Infrared is not heat, it is light. Heat is the end result of the coating absorbing the light. Infrared emitters have all the properties of light, absorption, transmission and reflection. By choosing the correct type of infrared emitter, the product will be rapidly dried and cured.

Infrared drying  is often a rapid process, light energy is transferred to the coating instantly. Current industrial process demand high productivity. With the correct infrared emitter, the product can be coated and packed immediately, ready for immediate dispatch. Factory space for drying and holding stock is not required.

HEAT AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT!

By selection of the correct wavelength of the emitter, careful control of the power of the emitter, an excellent result will be obtain with infrared drying technology. Today’s power controllers allow operators precise temperature control, with 0.5 degrees of the desired setpoint. Temperature control is both accurate and inexpensive, resulting in a high quality finish.

Infrared drying systems  switch on with immediate heating, there is no warm up time. This alone saves so much time and money, that IR systems pay for themselves in no time at all.

    ADVANTAGES OF INFRARED DRYING

    • Fast application of heat
    • No contact between emitters and substrate
    • Wavelength adjusted for the properties of the substrate
    • Precise control of coating temperature
    • Fast response times and productivity
    • Compact and simple installations
    • Infrared heating systems installed within a day
